Privacy policy
This policy explains what personal data we collect through this website, what we use it for, who we share it with, and what you can ask us about it. It is written in plain language on purpose: if anything is unclear, write to us and we will explain it.
Data controller: Promise Theological Seminary, 4615 Oak Hill Rd, Evansville, IN 47711, United States. Contact email: info@promisetheologicalseminary.org.
1. What this policy covers
It covers this website and the forms and accounts that work within it. It does not cover what happens on third-party sites we link to, such as PayPal, Facebook or YouTube, which are governed by their own policies.
2. What data we collect
We only collect what we need in order to reply to you and to support your training. Specifically:
- Contact form and requests for information: your name, your email address, the subject when the form asks for it, and your message, together with the date and time it was sent.
- Newsletter subscription: your email address.
- Your account: your name, your email address and the password you sign in with, plus a profile photo if you choose to add one. Passwords are handled by our authentication provider and the seminary never sees them.
- Program payments and donations: these are processed by PayPal on its own platform. We receive notice of the transaction, not your card details or your banking credentials.
- Server technical logs, which the hosting generates automatically in order to keep the site running and to detect faults or abuse.
3. What we use your data for
We use the information you give us in order to:
- Reply to your questions and support you through the admissions process.
- Give you access to your account and to information about your programs.
- Send you the newsletter and communications from the seminary, if you subscribed. You can unsubscribe whenever you wish.
- Handle your enrollment and the payments associated with your program.
- Keep the site secure and running, and prevent misuse of the forms.
4. We do not sell your data
We do not sell, rent or trade your personal data. Nor do we use it for third-party advertising.
We share it only with the providers we need in order to operate, and only as far as they need it: the company that hosts the site and the database, the authentication provider that handles accounts and passwords, PayPal for payments and donations, and the map service that shows our location on the contact page. We may also share it where a competent authority requires it by law.
5. Cookies and similar technologies
This site uses the cookies it needs in order to work: mainly the ones that keep your session open when you sign in to your account. Without them you could not stay signed in.
We do not currently use advertising cookies or cross-site tracking. If we add analytics or marketing tools in future, we will note it on this page before turning them on.
Pages where we embed third-party content — the map on the contact page — may allow that third party to set its own cookies. You can block or delete cookies from your browser settings, bearing in mind that if you block the necessary ones you will not be able to sign in.
6. How long we keep your data
Questions and requests for information are kept for as long as they are useful in serving you and following up on admissions. Your account data is kept for as long as the account exists. Academic records and those related to payments are kept for as long as our administrative and accounting obligations require.
When we no longer need a piece of data, we delete it or remove anything that could identify you.
7. How we protect your information
The site is served over an encrypted connection, access to the database is limited to the staff who need it, and passwords remain with the authentication provider, which stores them encrypted. Payments are processed entirely on PayPal's platform.
No system is foolproof. If an incident were to affect your personal data, we will tell you and explain what steps we are taking.
8. Your rights
You may ask us at any time to tell you what data of yours we hold, to correct it if it is wrong, to delete it, or to stop sending you communications. You may also close your account.
To exercise any of these rights, write to us at info@promisetheologicalseminary.org from the address you contacted us with, or call us at 502-450-0292. We will reply within 30 days. If we need to keep any data because of a legal or accounting obligation, we will explain which and why.
9. Students outside the United States
Our programs are available to students in other Spanish-speaking countries. The site, the database and our providers operate from the United States, so when you write to us or open an account your data is handled and stored there. If you are writing from a country whose law gives you additional rights, let us know and we will honor them.
10. Minors
This site is intended for adults. We do not request data from children under 13 and we do not open accounts in their name. If you believe a minor has sent us personal information, write to us and we will delete it.
11. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy we will publish the new version on this same page and update the revision date shown at the top. Where a change significantly affects how your data is used, we will let you know by email.
12. How to contact us
If you have questions about this policy or about how your data is handled, write to us at info@promisetheologicalseminary.org, call us at 502-450-0292, or visit us at 4615 Oak Hill Rd, Evansville, IN 47711.
